Common pests
Florida-specific pressure on Florida lawns.
Chinch Bugs
Chinch bugs are small black-and-white insects (about 1/5 inch long) that feed on St. Augustine grass in Central Florida by sucking moisture from the blades and injecting a toxic saliva that kills the grass. They thrive in hot, dry weather and are most damaging from late spring through early fall.
Learn more →Aphids
Aphids are small, soft-bodied insects that feed on plant sap by piercing leaves and stems. In Central Florida, aphids are most commonly found on the undersides of leaves and on flower buds of crape myrtle, gardenia, oleander, viburnum, podocarpus, and hibiscus.
Learn more →Sod Webworms
Sod webworms are the caterpillar stage of small tan moths. They feed on grass blades at night, chewing notches and eventually shearing the lawn down to brown stubble. In Central Florida, peak damage occurs from late summer through fall.
Learn more →Fire Ants
Fire ants are aggressive stinging ants that build dome-shaped soil mounds in lawns and landscapes. Their stings cause painful welts that can be dangerous for sensitive individuals and pets. Central Florida is heavily infested with the imported red fire ant.

Questions
Frequently asked
Does Foxtail Pest Control treat the inside of homes?
+
No. Foxtail is a lawn and shrub care company. We treat turfgrass, landscape plants, and outdoor pests like chinch bugs, sod webworms, fire ants, fleas, ticks, aphids, and scale—not interior pests like roaches, bed bugs, or rodents.
How often will you treat my lawn?
+
Standard service is a bi-monthly schedule—six full-service visits per year—with seasonally adjusted applications. Service calls and follow-up treatments between visits are included at no additional charge.
What areas of Central Florida do you serve?
+
We serve Casselberry, Winter Park, Altamonte Springs, Lake Mary, Longwood, Sanford, Maitland, Oviedo, Winter Springs, and surrounding Seminole and Orange County communities.
Are your technicians licensed?
+
Yes. Every account technician is state certified, fully trained, licensed, and insured. We have more than 20 years of experience treating Florida lawns and landscapes.
Do you use premixed chemicals?
+
No. Every application is custom-mixed on site for the specific lawn, turf type, and conditions. This is why our results outperform generic premix services.
Will you clean up after dry applications?
+
Yes. Sidewalks, driveways, and other hard surfaces are blown clean after every dry application, both for appearance and to prevent fertilizer runoff into stormwater.
